Day 6

Subject: How often should you update your website [firstname]?

Hi [firstname],

A question lots of people ask is: How often should I update my website? This is a tricky question to answer as it's going to depend a lot on what type of website you have.

On the one hand, it's well known that the more often a website gets updated, the more often it gets crawled by search engines, which may help to improve search engine rankings. Logic would therefore dictate that updating your website every day would be a good idea.

On the other hand updating your website takes time, and if your online business is a part-time venture, then it can be a lot of hassle to update your site every day.

If you have a direct sales site, then obviously you'll update it every time you introduce a new product. To keep the site fresh you should plan on introducing a new product at least once or twice a month.

If you have a blog site, then start out by updating it every week. Update it on the same day each week, so followers will know when your next posting is going to come out. Then, as your site starts to get noticed more (and your typing speed goes up) start updating it two or three times a week, and then updating it every day.

It's also important that you get the right keyword density in blog articles and sales copy. Experts reckon a keyword density between 1-3% is ideal meaning that you'll have one to three keywords for every 100 words of copy. Any more and you'll risk being accused of keyword stuffing - a practice which was commonplace a few years ago and which resulted in lots of useless page with just the same keywords over and over again showing up in the search engine results pages (SERPS).

Warmly,

[Your Name]
